Serpent Serpent

I am the serpent,
spitting out the sweetest
words succulent as
dawn's dew drops
on the tips of
viridescent blades of grass.
Taste my venom, so sweet
to the senses...seemingly
innocent; pure, but stained with
soothing deceit
you shall never see.
Victim, do I cause you
to salivate so?
'tis my intention,
Guiltless One!
Yes, intoxicate yourself
with your own desires
and I shall slither
up your body;
feel my scales upon your
smooth, supple skin,
as I cover you
with my coils,
let you breathe
your last blissful
breath; and your
final remembrance-
my venomous kiss...

I feel my days are
numbered
I shall leave this world
soon
but I have felt this
everyday
and yet, here I am
still
The leaves, they're falling
dead
The waters, stagnant
crying
The winds howl, they call
expectant
The trees are bending
waiting
The sun is burning
bleeding
The earth is heaving
sighing
They, too, are weary
exhausted
Freedom deceived me
terribly
It has shackled me
forever
Please look upon this
failure
examine my soul
weathered
salvage what is left
please!
lift me out, this mire-
freedom
just...one glimpse
mercy
and I will be saved-
Forever
